Avante’s Secure 7-24 Communicator Ensured Rapid Response to Forest Hill Home Fire

In the case of a fire every minute counts. On January 8, 2004 at 12:28 a.m. Avante Security Officer Karl Visconti was able to reach the scene of a fire within 2 minutes of the first alarm and 7 minutes before the Fire Department. This rapid response was made possible by Avante’s Secure 7-24 wireless technology.

Within five seconds of the triggered alarm, information was sent simultaneously to the Avante Mobile Response team via their individual handheld RIM devices and to the Monitoring Station. The time saved by this wireless transmission versus conventional landline transmission placed Avante at the scene of this fire 2 minutes before the monitoring station made its first call. Family members were guided to the warmth and safety of one of the two Avante vehicles that responded to this alarm. The fire was well under control by the time of the Fire Department arrival. Avante personnel assisted the Fire Department in its efforts to fully ventilate the home and to ensure that it was deemed safe before our client and his family returned.

It was determined that the fire was started by a candle that had not been fully extinguished.
